Course Description
DMLT stands for Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, a two-year paramedical diploma course after 10+2 education that trains individuals to perform clinical laboratory tests to help in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Medical Laboratory Technologists, or Technicians, collect patient samples like blood and urine, conduct various analyses, and help doctors assess patient conditions by providing accurate test results.
The curriculum covers subjects like Human Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology, and Biochemistry, and graduates find roles in hospitals, diagnostic centers, and research facilities.
Skills You'll Gain
Sample Collection & Handling
Collecting blood, urine, stool, sputum, and other biological samples.
Clinical Laboratory Testing
Hematology (blood tests), Biochemistry (sugar, cholesterol, liver, kidney function tests)
Microscope Operation
Using light and compound microscopes for cell and microorganism study.
Instrument Handling
Maintaining lab instruments like centrifuge, spectrophotometer, autoanalyzer, etc.
Requirements
- Candidates must have completed 10+2
- From Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
- Minimum aggregate score: 45–50% (varies by institution).
